Alex Hamidi
Engineer currently running SDxUCSD, building software, and making music.
I try to reason deductively whenever possible and enjoy the company of passionate people.
I believe that the purpose behind everything we do should be as explicit as possible, and that creation is the primary purpose of humanity.
I'm excited about:
- Improving web/coding agents through RL and scaffolding in order to obviate tedious knowledge work
- Neuroscience, neurotech and BCIs. They combine many of my biggest interests: computation, intelligence, consciousness, and philosophy.
- Latent diffusion models and how DiT scaling, classifier-free guidance, and noise scheduling (among other things) affect output aesthetics in practice.
In the past, I've:
- Founded and sold two small GovTech companies
- Won state-level college programming competitions
- Backpacked 100 miles in Afghanistan with distant relatives
work
Palantir
2026Incoming Production Engineering Intern
Clado
2025Optimized 2tb-scale search engine. designed concise DSL (see writing) and fine-tuned LLM query generator with RL for >10x performance gains. Also did some forward deployed engineering w/ customers
AWS
2025Built automation scripts to make it easier to onboard AWS services to new regions. Pretty boring stuff
Declass
2025Document declassification service I co-founded. Exited to a government contractor in Spring of 2025
APSS
2025Research at UCSD's Shang Data Lab. Built a framework for optimizing LLM 'agents' (prompts) in a DAG by searching over the program space. Somewhat similar to Alphaevolve (but preceded it)!
